So, not only do I find out my friend from the rowing club is a professional photographer (who has a Hasselblad 500 C/M he might loan me for a day or two!), but he invites me to hang with him in the darkroom he has use of attached to his studio but never gets around to using. Bingo! I have the chemicals, he's got the darkroom, and suddenly I'm really, really happy! I know I keep saying it, but there should be some new Holga shots soon. I'm gonna be spending a good few hours in the dark!

Oh, I'm so very excited. After many years, I've gotten my act together to do some medium format developing at home. I've got a large changing bag, developing tank, and spools; just ordered and received my chemicals from eBay. I have so many rolls of Holga film lying around, it's unbelievable, and I'm really excited about what's going to show up when they're developed. James bought me a good quality scanner that scans medium format negatives, so if I can get it all to work, I'll have a nice analogue-to-digital system and should be self-sustaining. I'm so passionate about analogue photography and I don't want to lose my darkroom skills, so this

Old film...

Ah, I love finding and developing old rolls of film. To be fair, though, I've been thinking about this particular roll for months. It's the infrared roll I shot while Andy and I were in Iceland last year and it's been living in my fridge. It expired September 2005, so I was a bit worried, but it was absolutely fine. I picked up the negatives last week and I'm going to have some prints done when I'm in California next week. I just love looking at the negative sheet and doing the little intake of breath/dance of joy when you get one (or in this case, quite a few!) perfect-looking shots. Yes, it's less than an inch square so hard to judge, but
